Alex de Boer
I was brought up in a farming environment.
I graduated from high school as Dux and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree at Auckland University.
This led to a career start as an Industrial Engineer in large manufacturing companies in NZ setting out production lines, optimising throughput, and resolving all related issues. In 1976 I was asked to help a company in Dunedin solve major production issues. This led to a permanent move to Dunedin with my wife Wendy where we raised our 2 children and assisted them through University.
I have had a lifelong interest in real estate and over the years have owned many residential and commercial properties.
In the mid 1980s I left manufacturing and went out on my own designing and then building upmarket but affordable homes in Dunedin for specific clients.
I developed a keen interest in working with clients to show them how they could create passive income from a well placed portfolio of investment grade properties to secure their retirement income and set their children up to grow this income into the next generation as opportunities in the traditional job market diminish.
This led to Wendy and I starting Wealth Creators Ltd in the early 1990s to focus totally on helping NZ families in the step by step process of reaching their lifestyle goals. I organised all of their finances, risk protection insurances and located and approved their investment property purchases.
I took a break from this work over the past 3 years and bought a small sheep and beef property in Owaka and have enjoyed developing this into a very productive unit. I am actively committed to working within the Red Meat Sector to see how this sector can be restructured to give all farmer shareholders a more profitable and sustainable future.
To further this goal I have recently teamed up with Mortgagelink NZ and Newpark Financial Services to operate Mortgagelink South to offer all southern families and businesses the full range of mortgage providers and risk protection services to best allow us to work in partnership to maximise their individual wealth creation potential.
